Verse "Now Jesus did many other signs in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; but these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name".

A closing thought, a kind of disclaimer which you need to note. There are two kinds of doubt: honest doubt, and confirmed unbelief, the kind that refuses to accept any evidence. For those who refuse to accept truth, there is little hope; but for the honest doubter, great gain can come.   - we’re talking this morning about Building Core Strength by Being Honest About Your Doubts - and with the time we have remaining, let’s look for three principles to help us bring our questions to the Lord. I. Don’t Ever Hesitate to Bring Your Doubts, Questions, or Concerns to the Lord.

This book should be of value to your whether you are a believer or a doubter. It is an interesting account of the influence of the Ten Commandments in moral decisions. The book offers inspiration for the Good life itself. Dickson wrote the book hoping to show that this most ancient of Western traditions is as current as Google and Wikipedia. The book of Psalms is the soundtrack of the Bible. If you want to understand origins go to Genesis. If you want to know more about the law you can read Exodus or Leviticus. Recently former Christian minister and author John W. Loftus contacted me and sent me a copy of his new book, "From Minister to Honest Doubter: Why I Changed My Mind." Let me start off by stating categorically that this book is an absolute "must have" for anyone who has left the Christian faith or is having serious intellectual doubts about the 3/5(3).

This new book is a case study in conversion--my conversion--from a rebellious teenager to Christian minister and Bible College instructor to an honest doubter. I am a doubter when it comes to traditional evangelical Christianity, and this book presents a very powerful case against it by a former defender of it.

(Older) Book Review material that is expanded and revised. In this section we will offer commentary on From Minister to Honest Doubter on a page-by-page basis. We will only concern ourselves with "argumentative" material and not such things as i.e., Loftus' personal life (there are some comments related to that separately on the thread).

At 16, Elizabeth Deutsch was the youngest essayist to appear on Edward R. Murrow’s This I Believe. She discusses her search for philosophical and spiritual beliefs that can guide her as an adult. (Read a new essay Deutsch wrote in ). Buy From Minister to Honest Doubter - WITHDRAWN by John W.

He has self-published a book, From Minister to Honest Doubter. At this location he says, “If you want only one book to hand to your friends that will dismantle traditionally [sic] Christianity, this is it.” So, who is this fellow who seeks to challenge the Christian faith.

Jesus honored this man’s honest faith by casting out the demon and making him whole. Like this father, believers believe. We believe that God exists; that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him (Heb.

But believers also doubt. How do these examples of unbelief help us who struggle with doubt. Be Honest About Your Doubts.

We can be honest with God about our doubt. One of the great doubter-saints was the prophet Habakkuk. When he looked around, all he saw was the rebellion, unrepentant sin, and violence of his own people, the Israelites.

He began to doubt God's. "God is the friend of the honest doubter who dares to talk to God rather than about him. Prayer that includes an element of questioning God may be a means of increasing one's faith.

Expressing doubts and crying out about unfair situations show one's trust in God and one's confidence that God should and does have an answer to humanity's. Official title: Notes for remarks by The Honourable Gordon Osbaldeston, Privy Council (P.C.), Officer of the Order of Canada (O.C.).

This is actually pretty risky, because if you ask a real question, it’s possible you might get an answer you don’t expect (or worse, don’t like). Real questions put the doubter in a posture of humility and vulnerability.

She admits that there is more out there than she may. Jonathan Edwards, a Puritan minister, resolved never to do anything out of revenge. I am a modern, a member of a church far removed from Puritanism, yet I have accepted this resolution.

Since revenge and retaliation seem to have been accepted by nations today, I sometimes have difficulty reconciling my moral convictions with the tangled world. Series A Thomas, An Honest Doubter Easter 2 A, B, C John Today is Easter Sunday.

That’s why the story of Thomas is in the Bible—so that honest doubters might be encouraged to bring their honest doubts to the empty tomb. Thomas did, and his doubts were washed away by the person of Jesus Christ—alive from the dead. One other thing. No one can remain neutral forever. However, the Christian view of God is that he has personhood. He is a person. Therefore, doubt and trust are appropriated to him in a similar way that I appropriate these things to people. To be an honest doubter, I must understand the object of. God never turns an honest doubter away.
